A Letter Introducing the

I’m pleased to announce the launch of ARI – a new not-for-profit dedicated to non-partisan, objective research on economic, social, political science, philanthropy and public affairs issues in Canada.

I have started this initiative with baseline funding from my personal foundation in order to fill the growing gap between the need for solid public opinion research and the lack of funding from traditional sources such as the media and government.

The establishment of ARI has been a lifelong goal of mine. Having spent almost forty years conducting commercial research first at Angus Reid Group (now Ipsos-Reid) and more recently at Vision Critical, I’m privileged to have the opportunity to focus exclusively on public interest research – surveys whose sole goal is to accurately and comprehensively measure the attitudes and perceptions of Canadians on the many issues facing our nation and its world. All research carried out by ARI will be made available, free of charge, on our site and via media partners.

Angus Reid Global

With the establishment of ARI, Angus Reid Global will now restrict its practice to research and consulting for organizations in the not for profit and public sector. The services we offer are available in Canada and throughout the world via an extensive network of research consultants.

The ARG practice involves three main components:
  1. Issues management research
  2. Branding and donor relations
  3. Communications research

ARG carries out research for public and not for profit organizations using a combination of population based polling and focus groups and custom online research communities. In this latter area ARG maintains an ongoing partnership with Vision Critical – the world’s leading provider of insight community software.
